Pardubice jsou moderním městem s rozvinutou infrastrukturou, silnou průmyslovou základnou a významným univerzitním centrem. Univerzita Pardubice hraje klíčovou roli ve vzdělávání a výzkumu, přičemž přitahuje studenty z celé České republiky i ze zahraničí. Město je známé i díky svému chemickému průmyslu, sportovním aktivitám, zejména hokeji a dostihům, a bohatému kulturnímu dědictví.

Pardubice jsou také domovem známého Velké pardubické steeplechase, jednoho z nejtěžších a nejstarších dostihových závodů v Evropě. Kromě toho se zde každoročně konají různé kulturní festivaly, koncerty a společenské akce, které lákají návštěvníky z celé republiky i ze zahraničí.

Pardubice is a university and statutory town in the east of Bohemia. The history of this metropolis with more than ninety thousand inhabitants dates back to the 13th century. Pardubice is situated at the confluence of the Elbe and Chrudimka rivers in the fertile Polabska lowland.
